The First Annual Pink Elephant Party will bring Dave Barry
and The Rock Bottom Remainders, and Big 105.9’s Paul Castronovo
to benefit Miami-Dade’s abused, abandoned and neglected children
October 18, 2006- Miami, FL- Voices For Children Foundation, the fundraising arm of the 11th Judicial Circuit Guardian Ad Litem Program, will benefit from the First Annual Pink Elephant Party, to take place on Friday, November 17 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Edgewater Drive, Coral Gables. Tickets are $250 through advance ticket sales only.
The Pink Elephant Project will be unveiled on this night and will bring Big 105.9’s Paul Castronovo, Pulitzer Prize winner Dave Barry and The Rock Bottom Remainders together to benefit the children served by the 11th Judicial Circuit Guardian Ad Litem Program, which works to ensure that the best interests of abused, abandoned and neglected children are represented in court. This extraordinary evening features cocktails, dinner and dancing. Live entertainment will be provided by members of The Rock Bottom Remainders, a band formed by nationally and internationally renowned writers who collectively have published over 150 titles and sold over 200 million books.
The Project is the creation of Jeff and Yolanda Berkowitz, Voices For Children’s Board Chair. It is intended to serve as a platform to reach a new audience and introduce them to the work the organization does on behalf of Miami-Dade’s abused, abandoned and neglected children. “The First Annual Pink Elephant Party was originally envisioned as a private evening. It then grew into an event which will have Paul Castronovo, The Rock Bottom Remainders with Dave Barry as live entertainment and a few more surprises! We thought this was a unique opportunity to introduce a new audience to Voices For Children and the Guardian Ad Litem Program to get one step closer to reaching our goal of representing all of the children in foster care,” said Yolanda Berkowitz.
For ticket information visit www.voices4.org or call 305.324.5678. The totality of the proceeds will benefit the children served by Miami-Dade County’s Guardian Ad Litem Program.
Voices For Children Foundation is a not for profit organization that raises funds to ensure that every abused, abandoned and neglected child in Miami-Dade County has a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem and that financial assistance and other resources are available for their accompanying health, educational, and social needs. Guardians Ad Litem are trained, court appointed adults who serve as the representative voice for abused, abandoned and neglected children involved in dependency court proceedings. There are approximately 3,800 children in court proceedings who need representation, with the Guardian Ad Litem advocating for nearly 70% of them at any given time. Be a Voice, visit www.voices4.org.
